This allows you to have private pictures, and selectively allow others to view them, without people needing to register in any way. I'm unaware of any way to do that with gallery. My current pro account was a gift, and it expires soon. So, I'm going to have to renew it this year. I also recently started geotagging my pictures too, and flickr has an awesome interface for viewing geotagged pictures and for geotagging untagged pictures. I have been considering such a move for quite some time, but each time I do the research, I am persuaded that sticking with gallery and retaining control is the best thing to do. I will have to look at flickr again, though paying for a pro account to accomodate my photos is an immediate deterrent. Interesting.
